Now You Can Own a Louis Vuitton Branded Basketball and Backboard

By | July 8, 2021

In the coming weeks, Louis Vuitton is returning to add its luxurious touch to the basketball experience. And lucky patrons will soon be shooting hoops in style with the latest to come from the NBA x Louis Vuitton collection.

You might remember the brand’s previous NBA collaboration featuring the $ 4,250 Ball in Basket bag. The basketball-shaped collectible was a versatile flex with its full-grain brown leather, complete with gold hardware. But the collection’s latest additions will take things a step further.

Designed by artistic director Virgil Abloh, the collection includes a custom Louis Vuitton backboard and basketball. The frosted backboard dons the LV logo at its center with gold accents framing its corners, inspired by the brand’s signature trunks. Though there’s nothing typical about a Louis backboard, it does maintain traditional basketball elements with the classic orange rim and white net.

The dark leather and black trim of the accompanying 5.11″ basketball mirror the classic, standard-sized model. Except, this one comes with Louis Vuitton branding, so it’s probably not the ball you’ll be taking to just any hoop session. Cop this collection and they will also throw in a set of LV x NBA stickers that you can use to personalize your backboard—but at your own risk.

Though we’d all like to hang one up in our office or backyards just because, we have to be a bit realistic. No costs have been announced for the collection, but you can imagine it will come with a pretty steep price tag that many of us will look at and quickly look away from. But the thought is nice, anyway. To those who will be able to get their hands on one, the NBA x LV backboard and ball will be available at select Louis Vuitton locations within the month, so keep your eye out for this cool drop.
